About data on Virio
Virio is a Danish company portal that makes information about Danish companies easier to find and understand.
A significant part of the information on Virio comes from publicly available company registers and other relevant data sources. This means that a company may be displayed on Virio even if the company itself has not created or claimed its profile.
Virio ApS is responsible for the processing of personal data that takes place as part of Virio's own service.

Where does the information come from?
Virio uses information from public registers and other relevant sources to build and maintain its company database and company profiles.
This may include, among other things, information registered in the Central Business Register (CVR) and information from the Danish Business Authority.
Company information
Depending on which information is available, Virio may display, among other things:
- company name
- company registration number
- company form
- company status
- address
- date of formation
- industry and industry code
- number of employees
- production units
- financial information
- historical company information
- registered roles and relations to the company
The specific information may vary from company to company.
Personal data in company data
Company registers also contain information about natural persons with a relation to companies. When such information is displayed on Virio, it may constitute personal data under the data protection rules.
This may include, for example, the name and registered role of:
- directors
- board members
- founders
- owners and other registered participants
- individuals with other officially registered roles in a company
Virio displays this information as part of providing company and business information.
Why does Virio process the information?
Virio processes company data and associated personal data in order to operate a company information service where users can find, compare and understand information about Danish companies.
The purpose is, among other things, to:
- make publicly available company information easier to find
- create an overview of Danish companies
- display companies' registered management and other relevant roles
- display financial and structural company information
- make it possible to search for companies and individuals with business roles
- maintain and improve Virio's company database
Legal basis for processing
When Virio processes personal data from publicly available company registers as part of the company information service, the processing takes place, as a starting point, on the basis of Virio's legitimate interests, cf. Article 6(1)(f) of the General Data Protection Regulation.
Virio's legitimate interest consists, among other things, in operating and developing a company information service and making relevant company information available and usable for users.
Virio balances this interest against the interests, fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subjects.
Other legal bases for processing may apply where relevant to a specific processing activity.
Why is my company on Virio?
A company does not need to have created a profile itself to be visible on Virio.
Virio may create and maintain company profiles based on information from public registers and other data sources.
An ordinary company profile is therefore not necessarily created or approved by the company the profile concerns.
Virio separately offers the option for a company to verify its affiliation with a profile and gain access to additional features. A verification does not in itself change Virio's processing of the basic register information.
Why is my name shown on Virio?
If your name appears on Virio in connection with a company, it may be because you are registered with an official role or relation to the company in one of the data sources Virio uses.
This may be, for example, as a director, board member, founder, owner or other registered participant.
Virio displays such information to give users relevant information about companies' organization, management and ownership or role-related matters.
If the information is incorrect
Virio strives to display correct and up-to-date information, but delays, errors or differences between Virio and the original data source may occur.
Errors in public register information
If a piece of information is incorrect in the public register from which Virio received it, it may be necessary first to have the information corrected with the relevant authority or register controller.
When the information is subsequently updated in Virio's data sources, the change may be included in Virio's next data update.
Errors at Virio
If the original data source contains correct information but Virio displays it incorrectly, you are very welcome to contact us at info@virio.dk.
We will then examine the information and correct it if there is a basis for doing so.
Can I have my information deleted?
The right to erasure of personal data is not absolute.
Whether information can be deleted from Virio depends, among other things, on the nature of the information, the purpose of the processing, Virio's legal basis and the specific circumstances.
The fact that information comes from a public register therefore does not in itself mean that a request for erasure or objection can be rejected without a specific assessment.
If you want information about yourself deleted, you can contact Virio at info@virio.dk. We will assess the request in accordance with the applicable data protection rules.
Right to object
When Virio processes personal data on the basis of a legitimate interest, you have the right to object to the processing of information about you.
If you object, Virio will carry out a specific assessment of the processing and the considerations behind it.
You can send an objection to info@virio.dk.
Please describe which information and which company profile your enquiry concerns, so that we can process it more quickly.
Your other rights
Depending on the circumstances, you have, among other things, the right under the data protection rules to:
- obtain access to the personal data Virio processes about you
- have inaccurate personal data corrected
- in certain cases, have personal data deleted
- in certain cases, have the processing restricted
- object to processing based on a legitimate interest
The rights are not unconditional, and there may be situations where Virio, under applicable rules, may or must continue a processing activity.
You can read more about Virio's general processing of personal data in our Privacy policy.
Updating company data
Virio continuously updates company information from the data sources used on the platform.
Some time may pass from when a change is registered at the original data source until the change appears on Virio.
Virio therefore does not guarantee that all information reflects the latest registration at all times.
Companies can add their own information
Companies that gain access to manage their profile on Virio may have the option to add information and content themselves.
This may include, for example:
- logo
- company description
- website
- contact information
- the company's history
- other information about the company
Such information must be distinguished from information that Virio receives from public registers and other external data sources.
The company is responsible for ensuring that material and information it adds itself is correct and lawful.
Disclosure and data processors
Virio may use external providers for, among other things, hosting, database operations, security, analytics and technical operations.
When such providers process personal data on Virio's behalf, this takes place under data processing agreements and Virio's instructions where this is required.
Virio does not sell personal data about data subjects to third parties as part of this processing.
Storage
Virio stores personal data for as long as necessary for the purposes for which the information is processed, or for as long as Virio has another lawful basis for the storage.
For company and register information, the storage period may depend, among other things, on whether the information remains relevant to Virio's company information service, including in connection with historical company information.
Virio continuously assesses the need for processing and storage.
